Who knows anything about drones? Well, I freely admit that I don’t. What I do know is that they are awesome!!! I have always wanted one. When I was toying with the idea of vlogging and watching my favourite YouTube channels, they all seemed to use drones and have amazing footage.
So….. I went and got one…. Now it’s far from a professional drone and undoubtedly no where near the best on the market to buy. However, I am a complete beginner. Will it be a novelty (wife’s opinion), or will it be something that I use constantly (my counter-argument)? Time will tell as to who wins that debate (you’re thinking my wife too right?). Well, either way, in terms of value for money, I can’t fault it.
The drone that I got was the Snaptain SP650, which I bought from Amazon (I will leave a link below for you to check it out yourself). After a bit of research, I found that it was a great combination of features and price for beginners.
So here are some of the main features:
Plus Much more!!
What I find most impressive is that this drone is currently only £69.99!!

So, how am I getting on? Well, I took my boys out over the field local to our house for its maiden flight and let my 10-year-old take the controls while I filmed. I have to say, that I was impressed. Despite it being quite a windy day here, it handled it really well and the fact that it was all controlled by my young son, shows how user friendly it is. Let us just ignore the fact that I nearly got a haircut and other people were running for their lives!!! Jokes.
It made for a bit of fun and a good excuse to just get outside. It also meant I was able to spend some quality, fun time with my little dudes and away from our screens and out in the good old British fresh air. If I ever bite the bullet and decide to take the step into vlogging then I am happy that this drone will help capture those all-important cool shots and B-roll until I become world-famous and need an upgrade… Yeah okay mate!!!
If you would like to see the maiden flight in action, then you can see our little video that we made at YouTube:
Who else currently uses a drone and what drone do you use? What drones would you recommend for beginners that you don’t need to pay through the roof for? Leave a comment and let us know.
Have a great day.
